May's astrology has all sorts of flavors in store for us. We begin with the sweetness of the Taurus new moon and end with the ultra spiciness of eclipse season. The Taurus new moon occurs this Tuesday at noon PT, and establishes a new beginning in the earthly Venus part of our lives. Let's find out what this exalted new moon has in store.

At the very end of April, the Sun conjoined freedom inspiring Uranus. This may have sparked enthusiasm for starting something new or shaking things up. You may have experienced a genius insight or experienced a new sense of freedom you hadn't felt in a long time. Within a few days, however, the sun caught up with restrictive Saturn. The momentum towards change is halted by some sort of reality check. This first week of May kept showing me a message that 'slow and steady' was the best approach towards embarking on new territory.

The new moon in Taurus grounds any recent changes and welcomes a fresh new source of gratification in our lives. Any current feelings of boredom or stagnation can be fuel for igniting new explorations. Taurus is ruled by Venus and has much to do with the earthly pleasures: food, nature, sex etc. With this lunation, I would suggest thinking about where you could use a healthy dose of pleasure in your life. How does this pleasure meaningfully support you? We are in the lengthy process of dismantling old, worn-out structures and rebuilding a more pleasing and beautiful support system. Connecting with our pleasure is key in making this happen.

What structures or restrictions are no longer serving you?

To give you a real life example, I'll use a current situation in my own life. I've been on a highly restrictive diet for gut health reasons for the past almost year, which includes no sugar or alcohol. At the end of April, I decided this strict diet wasn't getting me where I needed to be. I no longer felt aligned with the treatment, and I wanted to 'break free' to try something new. To be honest, I'm also so ready to bring back some sugar and drinking (in strict moderation) into my life. I need some Venusian sweetness! The Uranian activity inspired me to make a change in my health and see a new doctor, and I plan on allowing some more eating pleasures into my life. Food and pleasure are deeply connected to Taurus.

Jupiter enters Pisces..
As we root down into the fresh soil of Taurus on the new moon, a wonderful transit soon follows. Jupiter flows into Pisces on May 13th, where he will be until July 29th. Ever since the pandemic began, more than a year ago, I've been looking forward to this 'dreamy' period. Jupiter is at home in the sign of Pisces and will be able to offer us many blessings from this bountiful placement. I expect that restrictions will lessen and we will be able to experience a bit more ease and blissful connections.

The gentle waves of Pisces may wash over our scorched earth and bring a sense of renewal and positivity. We may even feel more emotional than usual, due to the onset of reuniting with friends and family. Barriers will be worn down and allow for more movement. Jupiter in Pisces is a renewal of faith, positivity and being able to see the glass as more than 'half full'.

Jupiter was last in Pisces in much of the year 2010. Think back to what major blessings came into your life at that time, and that may give you a clue for what to expect with this transit. Each transit is undeniably unique, however, so you can some brand new Jupiter blessings as well!

Eclipse + Mercury retrograde season begins!
As I mentioned before, there are many different flavors this month. As May winds down, the astrology gets a bit more turbulent. The slow nature of Taurus flips as we move into fast paced Gemini season. On May 26th, eclipse season begins with a lunar eclipse in Sagittarius. We have been experiencing the eclipses in Sagittarius-Gemini for the past year, so this should be somewhat familiar territory. A question to ask yourself is, what still needs to be cleared from the Sagittarius area of my life? We are making room for a new vision here that will allow us to connect with something more meaningful in our lives. The turbulence we experience at the end of May and in June may bring some chaos, but it will also open new doors.

Lastly, Mercury stations retrograde in Gemini on the 29th. We may feel we are moving in many directions at once but not making much progress. With sudden increased global movement, this is going to be a busy and chaotic time in the world. Confusion and delays are imminent, so be patient when the road gets bumpy! We will be working to sort through a confusing situation in search of necessary clarity. I'll report more on this at a later date.

Until then, enjoy this stabilizing and sweet new moon!
