Scorpio New Moon Horoscopes

astrologySuzy OlsenComment

At 1:27AM PT tomorrow, the moon is emptied in the sign of the Scorpion. As with anything Scorpionic, we find intense feelings at the beginning of this new lunar cycle. The Scorpio moon dares to go all in. It obsesses and feels the full spectrum of emotions. It loves so hard it hurts. Here, we leave the realm of logical thinking and acknowledge our primal needs. As the saying goes ‘the heart wants what the heart wants’. Though it may feel challenging, we can access a deeper truth that is so often difficult to put into words.

This Scorpio new moon feels extra unique to me and could be a powerful new beginning for many. Conjunct Mars and opposing Uranus, we encounter themes around disruptions, emotional breakthroughs, confrontations, and liberation. We are facing our fears so that we may be freed from them.

Though this process may take time, an illusion is ready to be released to move toward truth and authenticity. Deep emotional attachments, even if they no longer serve us, are hard to release. On this lunar journey, the first step is to allow time or space to process our feelings. If you have been feeling intense pressure lately, this may be a good time to take a break or ask for help. You may decide that you’ve changed your mind about something, and you no longer wish to keep forcing it. It may be time to let go of shame and others’ expectations, as you tap into what you truly want.

horoscopes

I have written a short horoscope for each ‘rising’ sign, which is based on the astrological transits and a tarot card. Each tarot card represents a piece of wisdom and advice on how to work with this new lunar cycle. Read this horoscope as a suggestion for action or healing during the coming weeks. Of course, rely on your own inner wisdom and intuition when interpreting these messages for yourself.

ARIES

Seek deeper healing by being of service to others. When you focus your care towards others, you will find that you care for yourself as well. If you have ‘karmic’ debts with others, seek ways to repay or relieve them. A growing sense of stability and purpose will result. (Page of Pentacles)

TAURUS

Find structure and support in your partnerships and closest alliances. Recognize with whom your values are aligned, and see opportunities for new growth and long-term stability. Assess the partnerships that are not in alignment with your values or have you feeling less secure. (4 of Pentacles)

GEMINI

Look for ways to improve your health or your daily ‘grind’. What can you cut out to improve your vitality or productivity? Recognize any negative habits that zap your mojo, and seek the tools to help you release them. You have the power to make positive changes to your well-being. (5 of Pentalces reversed)

CANCER

It is time to let go of fear and anxiety and reclaim your divine creativity. You have the power to break free from restrictive thought patterns and to begin expressing yourself more freely. Trust your instincts and your desires. (The Moon reversed)

LEO

Have you been working hard or feeling the pressure to hold it together for your family and home life? Now may be the time to take a break or slow down so that you can focus on other areas of purpose in your life. Recognizing your limits is not failure; it is the path to real success. (9 of Wands, reversed)

VIRGO

This is a time to think before you act. Keep your cards close to your chest as you develop a strategy. Remain flexible and resourceful in your communication with others, but also be aware of others’ true intentions. Pay close attention to the subtler messages you receive, and trust your intuition if you get a bad vibe. (7 of Swords)

LIBRA

Changes to your finances and/or values may be top of mind. Get clear with yourself about what your priorities are, and what you truly value before making adjustments. It’s time to simplify and perhaps part ways with certain material things that are not in alignment. (Ace of Swords, reversed)

SCORPIO

What kind of leader are you, and what example do you set for others? The new moon in your sign is a time to reflect on your role in the world, and consider making adjustments. You may be experiencing the pressure to perform a certain role, and you aren’t feeling like yourself. Take time to connect with your inner being and work to release the pressure of expectations. Others will appreciate you for being true to yourself. (King of Wands, reversed)

SAGITTARIUS

Recognize where you may be subconsciously holding onto the past and holding yourself back from your potential. See where you can make peace with the past so that you can live more fully in the present. Perhaps you can receive deep-felt closure and be liberated. (6 of Cups, reversed)

CAPRICORN

There are times to follow the rules and there are times to break them. Now may be the time to let go of conformity. If you have been pressured to fit into a certain group or network, you may be feeling ready to go against the grain. Access your inner authority and let it be your guide. (Emperor, reversed)

AQUARIUS

Consider what your aspirations and goals are at this time. Have your ambitions been shifting? It may be time to listen to your inner voice and allow yourself to get clear with your true desires. Don’t let others’ opinions sway you too much in the process. (Two of Wands, reversed)

PISCES

Your belief systems may be under evaluation or adjustment during this lunar cycle. Consider what feels missing or where you feel disconnected from your faith. Take action to revive your love of learning and rekindle your inner spark with a new spiritual practice. (The World, reversed)

Happy new moon,

Suzy

Aries New Moon: Healing as inspiration.

astrologySuzy OlsenComment
Aries New Moon

Here we are again, on the brink of a new lunar cycle. Close to midnight, on the evening of March 31st, the moon will be born again in the sign of Aries. Each year, I find myself looking forward to this fiery lunation. It is the first new moon of the spring season, and it tends to open up all sorts of refreshing possibilities. The sun finds its exaltation in Aries, and thus inspires us to express ourselves authentically and creatively in new ways. I believe I'm partial to the sign of Aries due to its ability to shine purely and without the worry of judgment.

Aries is ruled by the warrior planet Mars and is known for its bravery and passion.

This Aries new moon is unique, however, and has its own special magic in store for us. Chiron, the wounded healer, is less than one degree away from the new moon. The fiery seeds of Aries are somehow being sewn into the soils of our wounded selves. Don't worry, this is not as scary as it sounds. Chiron is a meteor/asteroid body known for showing us our insecurities, our traumas, and woundedness. Not only does Chiron show us our wounds, but Chiron has a wonderful way of showing us our way to healing and our ability to heal others.

By our own process of healing, we gain certain unique gifts.

Thus, at the start of this lunation, we may be faced with a part of ourselves that is asking for healing. Being that we are in the sign of Aries, our struggles may stem from a lack of confidence or fear of acceptance. Pay attention to when you feel yourself pulling back in expressing yourself fully. Notice if you are hiding a part of your true nature, and give yourself tenderness as you seek clarity around any past wounds.

More simply put, we may be questioning our current path or experiencing a creative block of some kind. Mars, the ruler of this lunation, is about to meet up with Saturn. The next couple of weeks may have us feeling frustrated with achieving anything with speed. We may also feel a bit lackluster and be questioning our direction. I can reassure you, however, this period is a simple slowing down. There is likely no need to abandon a project or start over.

If during this time you find yourself feeling less inspired than you would like, I have this to offer. This lunar cycle is not about starting something brand new; it is about building on the mastery and blessings you already possess. I believe this Aries new moon is revealing to each of us how we continue to hold ourselves back or avoid what we truly desire. What we desire might be right in front of us, but we feel blocked from attaining it. You may even realize you are filling a void with material 'things' instead of the meaningful experiences which deeply fulfill you.

Chiron itself may serve as inspiration on this new moon. As we pursue healing, we may feel more inspired to share our own experiences with others. When we acknowledge our wounding, we allow ourselves to become more whole. None of us get through life without injury, but few of us allow for the acceptance of those parts of ourselves. Chiron shows us our process of healing gives innumerable gifts, including inspiration to create.

As I was writing this newsletter, I was reminded of my own woundings in early childhood, attributed to my Aries moon. Though I was a shy child, I was fiercely independent and somewhat rebellious. My father often told me not to be 'so sassy'. He couldn't understand why I wanted to stand in the ocean without holding his hand, even when it meant falling beneath the waves. My father was extremely strict with me as a result, and we had a tenuous relationship. The funny thing is, the more my father struggled to 'reign me in', the more independent I became. I was determined to create a life for myself where I had as much freedom as possible, which meant I became resilient and self-sufficient. As an adult, my father is now extremely proud of me. It's funny how these things work out, isn't it?

If nothing else, I believe this is a beautiful time to quiet our minds and let go of negative self-talk. As we rest our minds, we free ourselves to the exciting possibilities of this Aries lunation. We have an opportunity to express ourselves more wholly and to reach a higher level of mastery on whatever path we are on. As you sew your own seeds on this new moon, acknowledge and celebrate all of your accomplishments.

Please do write me about any experiences you have that feel connected to this Aries new moon. I love hearing your stories. This is our last new moon before the spring eclipse season begins, so it feels especially important.

Exalted Venus in Pisces love magic coming this spring.

Happy full moon friends! Early tomorrow morning, at 12:17AM PT, the moon reaches her apex in the earthly realms of Virgo. At this time, we are likely to feel the tangible blessings that Jupiter in Pisces has been offering. Our fortunes are made manifest in the physical world and are grounded in reality. In addition, we may feel there is now a detailed plan in place to execute our dreams into earthly existence.

The eve of this lunation felt like a good time for me to introduce something I've been dreaming up for many months now. One of my favorite planets and 'energies' to work with is Venus. For the past number of weeks, Venus has been riding quite a roller coaster. Currently, she is in a very poor position (between Saturn and Mars). You could say that matters of love and harmony are especially fraught at the moment. Come April, however, Venus will be entering the loving waters of Pisces. Venus will be in Pisces this year from about April 6th to May 3rd.

Pisces is the sign of Venus' exaltation. This means the planet of love has heightened and special abilities here.

When I think of Venus in Pisces, I think of all the cheesy 80's love songs from my childhood. Queue Steve Winwood's uplifting and romantic song Higher LoveYoutube video here. The lyrics really say it all:

Think about it, there must be higher love
Down in the heart or hidden in the stars above
Without it, life is wasted time
Look inside your heart, I'll look inside mine

Things look so bad everywhere
In this whole world, what is fair?
We walk blind and we try to see
Falling behind in what could be

Bring me a higher love
Bring me a higher love
Bring me a higher love
Where's that higher love I keep thinking of?

Venus in Pisces is romantic, big-hearted, and sentimental. I believe Venus is exalted in this sign because of the capacity to love without judgment or material expectations. You could say it represents a 'higher love'; a love that is of a deeper and more spiritual nature.

I'm especially excited for this Venus in Pisces season because she will be joined with Jupiter + Neptune. This is a dreamy and rare transit we want to take full advantage of!

Venus in Pisces Magic + Talismans
For the past few years, I have been learning the ancient art of astrological magic and talisman making. So far I've only created talismans for myself and my friends, but I plan to start publicly offering some talismanic material in the very near future. My first offering will be for Venus in Pisces.

You might be wondering what a talisman is or what it's good for, which is a great question. The most honest and simple answer is -- a talisman is a physical object imbued with specific magical properties. Whoever wears this talisman will experience or emanate the properties of that talisman.

Astrological talismans are perhaps the first kind of talismans ever created. I can't say that for sure, but it is a practice that goes waaaaay back. Word of warning, astrological talisman making is powerful magic. You want to make sure you know what you are doing, especially if you are working with anything malefic.

A case study on love.
This April, I will be making a limited run of exalted Venus talismans. The talismans will be made to attract an 'exalted' kind of love. When worn, they should assist in harmonizing relationships, attracting a deeper love, and increasing romance. Because I will only be able to make a small amount, I'm hoping for them to go to people who are currently in search of love. They would also be great for folks who experiencing relationships difficulties of any kind.

I'm viewing this first set of Venus talismans as a case study, and I'm going to be gathering information about people's experiences with using them. Each person who receives a talisman will be regularly recording their experiences with relationships for the first month or two. Any personally identifying details will be kept confidential or private.

Interested in joining the case study?
In exchange for your time in recording your experiences, I'm planning to offer these talismans at a very affordable cost. In other words, I'm more interested in your experiences than your financial support. If you are interested in receiving a Venus in Pisces talisman, please send me an email.

Simply let me know that you are interested and let me know what you hope to use the talisman for (no need to get super personal, unless you want to!). Again, this is a highly limited offering. I can only make a small handful of this particular 'magic'.

I've certainly had my own harrowed and winding journey with love in my past. Over the years, I've felt much fulfillment in supporting others on their own journey in love. So it is my sincerest pleasure in creating this new offering.

Happy full moon,

Suzy

Capricorn New Moon 2022

astrologySuzy OlsenComment

The new moon arrives the day after the new year, ushering us into a place of deep reflection and planning for the future. At 10:33AM PT, this morning, the moon is emptied in the sign of Capricorn. Here our new moon seeds are planted alongside the underworld voyage of Venus. Located at the 12th degree of Capricorn, this new moon brings us close to the point where Venus will station direct at the end of January. This lunar cycle promises crucial development in our relationships and desires.

Each year, the Capricorn new moon gives us an opportunity to connect with our ambitions and goals. What are you steadily working towards? Capricorn is the home of earthy Saturn, and here we look to build sturdy foundations worthy of providing structure to our lives.

We are now prompted to reflect on what structures and commitments are worth keeping and which are holding us back.

Amidst the Venus retrograde, we may be questioning our satisfaction in our love lives. Or perhaps we realize we have disconnected from our pleasure or sacrificed our desires in order to reach a certain goal. We are able to see these situations now more clearly for what they really are. Venus is offering us an opportunity to discover what has gone missing.

When we are able to reconnect with our desires, we are propelled towards reaching our goals. At the heart of this lunation, we are seeking to refresh what has grown monotonous.

If you have felt yourself going through the motions in a certain area of life without clear direction, this lunation is a great time to check-in.

The new moon trines Uranus in Taurus, giving us the ability to flow towards positive changes and adjustments. This is constructive earth energy, which offers us real and tangible results. We are able to go within and make room for what we truly desire, whether it be big or small. Take a moment to reflect on where you feel tied down in life and how you can change that. 2022 begins with a call for feeling more freedom and truer to yourself.

Where is the action taking place? Based on your rising sign, you can reflect on a particular area of life to set your intentions:

Aries:

Your career, big life achievements, and recognition.

Taurus:
Your education, knowledge, spirituality, belief systems, and foreign travel.

Gemini:
Your long-held trauma, endings, transformative healing, and joint assets.

Cancer:
Your core relationships, marriage, and committed partnerships.

Leo:
Your work-life balance, daily habits + rituals, and labor.

Virgo:
Your place of joy, pleasure, creativity and children.

Libra:
Your place of belonging, home, ancestry and family.

Scorpio:
What you feed your mind, communication, neighborhood and siblings.

Sagittarius:
Your income, assets, and values.

Capricorn:
Your health, body, and outward expression.

Aquarius:
Your place of retreat, isolation and subconscious mind.

Pisces:

Your friends, alliances, and groups you associate with.

Happy New Moon + New Year!

Year Ahead Tarot Reading: 2022

astrology, tarotSuzy OlsenComment

Early this morning, I pulled some cards once again for an outlook for the year ahead. The tarot is much in agreement with the major astrological transits of 2022, and there is a repetition of many themes from the previous year. The following reading is meant to be interpreted for the collective, but it could very much apply to you on a personal level. I find that the cards speak with a direct honesty when speaking to the collective. Keep in mind, I try to interpret these messages outside of political leanings so that they can apply to anyone. Admittedly though, I am a left-leaning liberal! It’s also good to note, each of us will be affected uniquely by the astrological transits. So let’s see what is in store for us this year.

CENTRAL THEMES:

The reversed King of Pentacles returns. This earthly king appeared in the reading for 2021, and pertained to the economy of the United States. So it’s interesting to now see this card and the economy as the central focus for the year ahead. After a tumultuous couple of years, the world is seeking to stabilize amidst tumultuous change and pressure. Our economy will continue to fluctuate due to stagnation, delays or lack of resources. Furthermore, this is a sign that our collective values are shifting. Where and how we choose to spend our money is shifting away from a traditional structure.

The Emperor appears as a sign of what we are leaving behind in 2021 and the King of Wands reversed is what replaces him. Similar to 2021’s reading, with all these Kings and Emperors, there appears to be a dynamic shift in authority and leadership. In general, I see 2022 as a year of turning towards self-reliance or alternative leadership. Traditional structures, including the patriarchy, are going to continue to go out of style. Overall, there is a continued theme of less trust in those with power.

A new kind of leadership style is coming into focus with the reversed King of Wands. I see this pointing us in the direction of self-reliance and the cultivation of inner vision. On a personal level, this could be a good year for brainstorming and strategy for the future. It is a year for taking important steps towards a long-term goal, but make sure you have the necessary clarity and resources before going all in. You may also find what you once wanted is no longer fulfilling, and you will have the opportunity to reassess.

NEPTUNE + JUPITER:

Neptune will continue its long ride through the watery depths of Pisces this year, along with Jupiter for many months. These two are providing a welcome release from the daily grind. Through much of this year, we may find ourselves seeking higher meaning and purpose in our lives. We may find a plethora of opportunities to expand our intuitive awareness through spiritual pursuits.

As we escape into a wonderful dream world, it may be challenging to focus on mundane work. We may find we are less fulfilled by work that doesn’t serve a higher purpose or doesn’t reflect our ideals. On a cautionary note, this could result in a bit of escapism and low productivity. On a positive note, the dreamy expansiveness of Neptune + Jupiter may give you the support and inspiration you truly need. Jupiter will be in Pisces until May 10th and again in late Fall. Do magick, dream big, and give yourself plenty of time away from the hustle.

(Jupiter will be in Aries May 10th - October 28th and again on December 20th. I will discuss this in a later post)

SATURN + URANUS:

Same as 2021, Saturn and Uranus will continue to square off with one another throughout the year. Generally, this is a continuation of rebelling against the status quo and the pressure to make changes to the foundational parts of our society. As it has been reflected in last year’s reading, Saturn is in the superior position. Saturn is depicted by the Hieorphant, otherwise known as the authoritative teacher and the wise one. Uranus, on the other hand, is depicted by the strained 9 of Wands. Big systemic changes and revolutions will not find easy success, but that won’t keep us from trying!

The 9 of wands speaks to a tenacious resistance. Uranus is in the fixed earth sign of Taurus, and there is stubborn tenacity found here. 2022 promises a continued strong rebellion against authority or confining boundaries, and at no matter the cost. Saturn is in Aquarius and speaks to the importance of a higher moral code. On a personal level, you may find you are seeking to break beyond certain boundaries in order to have more freedom or live more authentically. The pressure that arises between Uranus and Saturn can produce great innovation.

THE PANDEMIC:

The last part of this reading focuses on what role the pandemic will play in 2022. Without a doubt, the last two years have been greatly impacted by Covid-19. In the reversed World card, we are in search of completion of a cyle. The World is the end of the Fool’s Journey and the beginning of a new one. On a positive note, this hopefully shows we are wrapping up some of the issues centered around the pandemic this year. On a more realistic note, this means we will continue to work through many of the same Covid-19 related challenges. The karmic wheels of destiny are moving but they are in no rush. In other words, the pandemic will not magically disappear this year. Based on the history of pandemics, I’m sure this is no surprise to anyone.

Travel, or lack of travel, is also a major theme with the World card. Similar to 2021, I see this year as having opportunities to travel more freely but there will be times when it is still difficult. The reversed World card reflects caution around freedom of movement. Borders between countries will be closely monitored, and will likely close at various times during the year. Astrologically, I expect late February to mid-April to be especially tricky to navigate. Rest assured, there will be plenty of blessings to be had during this time as well.

Despite the pandemic, the World card shows we will continue to grow and expand in new ways. We adjust, we heal, and we find new opportunities for meaning and connection in our lives.

A SOULFUL MESSAGE:

In addition to looking at the major themes of 2022, this reading includes a soulful message for how to approach this new year. The Saturn-Uranus dynamic speaks of rebellion, and perhaps the most rebellious thing we can do is to tend to our wellbeing. Jupiter in Pisces gives us the opportunity to live in a more soulful way. Would if this year we spent more time each day supporting our own inner peace and happiness?

There is a lot working against our wellbeing in the modern world, and this year has the potential to wear us down like any other year. The message from the tarot speaks like this: If you find yourself feeling beat up, ground down or oppressed, seek opportunities for nurturing. Tend to your inner wellbeing each day. Don’t give your energy away to just anyone or anything. Have intention and heart in your actions. The reversed Ace of Cups: Water the garden of your soul.

Another related message shows the opportunity to lovingly pay attention to the cycles in our life that leave us feeling stuck. One way to release these stagnate cycles is to let go of judging ourselves and our past actions. What matters most is this moment. This year, we have support in taking steps towards more flow and ease.

I hope you find this 2022 outlook helpful. May your year be filled with magic.

Venus Retrograde in Capricorn 2021

astrologySuzy OlsenComment

Venus is the planet of love, beauty and harmony. In just a few days, she stations retrograde in earthy Capricorn where she will embark on a deep and winding underworld journey. On December 19th, Venus begins this voyage while conjunct the underworld king Pluto. The retrograde journey lasts until January 29th, but Venus will steadily occupy Capricorn and the realm of Pluto up until March 5th.

What can we expect during this celestial voyage? Venus is in Saturn’s sign and is exploring the architecture of the heart. During a Venus retrograde cycle, hidden yearnings and desires can surface or be released. The planet of love may be seeking to restructure the foundations in a certain area of life, and this often includes the basis of our relationships and values.

In the archetypal hero’s journey, or passage through the underworld, it is an iconic component for the hero’s process of transformation. Entering the underworld is entering a state of darkness of some kind. We are able to see and explore what is typically not visible. With Venus exploring these shadows, we can expect to see ‘subconscious’ or hidden relationship patterns more clearly. A deep investigation takes place which allows for the necessary transformation. What is ready to be let go of will be pushed and will make space for renewal.

If you have Venus or other personal planets in Capricorn, this may be an especially eventful retrograde cycle for you. Also, if you have a cardinal rising sign (Capricorn, Libra, Cancer, Aries) this cycle will have more intensity. Pay attention to what house Capricorn rules to see what area of life this is likely most impacted. The underworld journey can be utterly destabilizing, but I can tell you from experience, it can produce intensely positive results.

As Venus stations direct on January 29th, she will be making a supportive trine to Uranus. Thus, we can expect a liberation from past constraints or a cathartic release. Something about this direct station is surprising and exhilarating. Venus will join Pluto once again, along with Mars, in early March. I see this as another final step of deep transformation in this Venus cycle — where we consciously internalize our power.

The last Venus retrograde in Capricorn occurred almost exactly eight years ago in December of 2013 (December 20th - January 30th). Take a moment to reflect on what was occurring in your life at this time, especially pertaining to your relationships. In my own chart, Capricorn rules my 7th house of partnership and marriage and is home to my natal retrograde Venus. It seems as though I am karmically an expert on Venus retrogrades in Capricorn! Thus, I will tell you a bit about my own retrograde experience 8 years ago.

In the summer of 2013, I suddenly met my ‘soul mate’ who is now my husband. The Capricorn Venus retrograde was our first Venus retrograde experience together. In general, I see this time tested the structures of our relationship and our commitment to one another. Thankfully, we passed whatever tests came our way without much trouble. It’s honestly too long ago for me to remember all the details, but I think we were still learning how to live together. I was used to having lots of space and alone time and my partner was not. During this period, I was learning to let go of past relationship trauma that kept me from getting close, but I was also recognizing the space that I needed.

Leading up to this Venus retrograde cycle, I was also visited by an ex-boyfriend who I hadn’t seen for quite some time. I remember being shocked at how skinny he was. Later, I learned he had lost so much weight due to battling cancer. He had intended to tell me about his cancer situation when we met up, but he was too scared to tell me in person. Later that spring he suddenly died from complications due to his treatment. It still breaks my heart to think of him dying at the young age of 33, and I will never not feel sad about that.

I cannot say for sure how my ex-boyfriend’s visit impacted my Venus retrograde cycle from 8 years ago. It did seem to initiate letting go of old chapters with past partners and to more fully embrace my current relationship. It was necessary to let go of past restrictions and longings to more fully show up for a relationship worth committing to. My relationship, with my now-husband, continued to grow stronger through a very turbulent time of transformation for myself. In retrospect, perhaps the most important lesson I learned is that life is short, and living fully and happily is important.

I hope this upcoming retrograde cycle offers you a time for reflection, refinement and deep positive transformation. Best wishes to you on your journey of the heart.

The Sagittarius Solar Eclipse: Tending Your Inner Flame.

astrologySuzy OlsenComment

As the days grow darker in the northern hemisphere, we are reaching the last Sagittarius eclipse of a long-held series. Late this Friday, the moon will consume the sun at 12 degrees of the mighty archer. We are now at an important transition point as one karmic cycle ends and another begins. This weekend brings us the fourth and final eclipse in Sagittarius, in a cycle that began back in June 2020. The fiery sun and moon are joining the south node, awakening a major release and renewal.

With this fierce cosmic reboot, we are reminded of past karmic lessons and new territories yet to discover.

Sagittarius is the mutable fire sign and is ruled by the expansive and kingly Jupiter. Here we encounter the untamed wildness within us. The archer yearns to explore in an infinite manner, and rebels against overly restrictive boundaries. With this solar eclipse, we are reminded of the fire or the lack of fire within us. Fire, though combustible and dangerous, is what inspires and renews. Like a candle flame, if we are overly boxed in, we are snuffed out. We lose our inner passion, our direction, and the faith that propels us forward.

If you notice yourself feeling depleted at this time, take note.

Are you giving too much of yourself to something or someone who doesn't support you in return? I see this as a great time to become consciously aware of what diminishes your energy, whether it is a belief system, information source, job or relationship. With a sextile to Saturn, setting clear boundaries can be an effective strategy for protecting your vital energy. Furthermore, think about what experiences you have had since the summer of 2020. It may be time to finally follow through with releasing a limitation that keeps you from growing and expanding into your potential.

During the darkest time of the year, how will you tend to your inner flame?

Mercury is combust and debilitated, which may add to the agitation of our minds during this next lunar cycle. It is time to let go of dogmas and old belief systems which no longer serve us. Clear solutions to these issues may be hard to find, but answers will come from within with time and patience. Stay present with what is coming up at this time and don't worry too much about everything making sense right away. To know where to place your attention, look at what house Sagittarius rules in your own chart.

A Sagittarius Eclipse Tarot Spread

The cards above show a quick tarot reading I did to expand upon the Sagittarius solar eclipse. This reading is intended to generally apply to everyone. Feel free to do this reading for yourself to gain more personal insights!

1. What karmic cycle is being revisited.
ACE OF WANDS (REVERSED): A project has been left unfinished or an inspiration has been stifled. Or you may be feeling lackluster and inhibited from starting something new.

2. What change does this eclipse bring.
5 OF CUPS (REVERSED): A past disappointment is ready to be released. It may be time to put any regrets or sadness behind you so that you may focus on the future.

3. What can be released at this time.
3 OF SWORDS (REVERSED): Let go of blaming yourself for any unhappiness. This is a time to gently release the recurring negative thoughts and beliefs that bind you.

4. How to tend to your inner flame.
KING OF WANDS: Acknowledge that you have the power to make great change in your life! Be confident in your abilities and your vision. Focus on a passion that has been neglected and reignite the powerful wand you possess. Wear your crown proudly.

5. Future outlook - early winter.
3 OF CUPS (REVERSED): As we move into the darkest part of the year, it may be more difficult to connect with our friends and social groups as much as we'd like. There will be time for socializing, but perhaps with a focus on your closest and dearest friends. If you are feeling socially cut off because of inclement weather (or a new covid variant!), it will be all the more important to create fun and inspiring activities for yourself.

Venus Retrograde in Capricorn, December 19th - January 29th

Just a heads up, the next Venus retrograde cycle is right around the corner! As Venus enters her underworld journey, she will be joined by the subterranean Pluto. We can be sure that this will be an important cycle centered around unearthing our values, desires and truths in our relationships. Venus is in Capricorn until March 5th, so it is an extremely long journey through the foundations of the heart.

As Venus stations direct, she will be making a trine to liberating Uranus. The end of this retrograde heart journey will be inspiring and freeing, as she is emboldened to release herself from her shackles. Of course the story doesn't end there, but I will report more later!

Sending you all well wishes and happy holidays this season.

Scorpio New Moon 2021: Finding our truth.

astrologySuzy OlsenComment

Tomorrow afternoon, at 2:14PM PT, the moon is reborn in the sign of the scorpion. Over the next lunar cycle, we are getting in touch with the untamed parts of ourselves and allowing the truth to set us free. If you have been feeling powerless and not in control of your life, the tides are shifting in November. The battle cry from Mars can be heard during this planet's time in Scorpio, and will embolden us to assert ourselves and take courageous action. Change is in the air, and we may be confronting an inner or outer demon (or two) as we evolve and grow into a new chapter.

There are times for patience and harmony, and there are times for initiative and confrontation. We are entering a period where a sudden call to action is necessary. The new moon in Scorpio is calling on us to speak from the heart and speak our truth. Results may be messy or a tad uncomfortable for a period, but we can only learn and grow by allowing ourselves to take a risk. By speaking our truth we are empowered.

The planets are telling us we've been playing it a little too safe for too long, and we are about to get a wake-up call.

Uranus, the planet of liberation, is directly opposite this new moon. The seeds we are planting now are of the revolutionary kind. This lunar cycle promises some surprises, so I would advise staying a bit flexible. You are now called to work outside of your comfort zone. You may have to react quickly to sudden shifts in circumstances outside of your control, but this is an opportunity for great personal growth. This new moon is a preview of what changes to expect in the next 1.5 years, as the eclipse cycles shift to the Taurus - Scorpio axis.

Saturn is squared by this lunation, highlighting that we have challenges and restrictions to overcome. Our evolution (or revolution!) will not happen overnight. When your efforts are thwarted, do you give up right away or do you pivot and come back stronger? In the Scorpio realm, it's all about strategy. If you experience any failures over the next few weeks, take those experiences and learn from them. Prioritize what is most vital for you and for your future success.

Mistakes are not failures if you learn from them.

'GUIDANCE' HOROSCOPES
For those curious about going more depth with their astrology this month, I have written some 'guidance' style horoscopes for each sign. You can think of this as wisdom from the stars for the month of November. Also, you will find the astrology is most intense and felt by those with ascendants in the signs of TAURUS, SCORPIO, AQUARIUS and LEO.

Reference your rising (ascendant) sign for most accuracy.

Aries
The house of karmic debts and joint resources comes into focus on this new moon. How are you dependant on others and how do you support others, and is this exchange fair and just? You are called to take action to bring balance to the debts you owe or that you are owed by others.

Taurus
You have been on a winding journey of discovering a deeper authentic self since May of 2018. How do you continue this journey and more freely express yourself in your relationships? Stay true to who are and continue to communicate honestly with your partner about who you are becoming.

Gemini
You may find this month throwing extra curve balls your way. Unexpected challenges can have you feeling more anxious than usual. Know that this turbulence is temporary, and you can weather the storm. If you find yourself catching a cold or feeling run down, allow yourself to take a break in order to care for yourself. Self-care is vital to avoid burnout.

Cancer
Mars is supplying fervor to your joy in creating and using your talents. Are your gifts reflected and valued by the groups you align with? The new moon beckons you to find "your people" and network in order to evolve your unique gifts. Let go of alliances and groups that don't support the interests you wish to grow.

Leo
Since the spring of 2018, you have been on a journey of individuating in your career path. Sudden changes and opportunities are highlighted with your work and reputation, and this is having an effect on your home and family life. You may be juggling a lot between your work and personal life. Prioritize what is most important now to ensure future success.

Virgo
Your mind is active this season, and you have lots you want to say. You may have a new teacher or authority figure presenting a perspective that is in opposition to your own. A healthy debate allows you to understand your own beliefs and to understand others better. Know there is always more to learn and be curious about from other points of view.

Libra
The new moon falls into your house of income and sets the stage for future growth. Currently, you may be dissatisfied with your finances and are now taking action to remedy this situation. Evaluate your money from a long-term perspective. What healthy money habits can you grow today to ensure success in the future? This could be a good time to ask for a raise and pay off debts.

Scorpio
Dear Scorpio, this new moon is bringing big feels. For several years, your relationship dynamics have been shifting and evolving and you are now in a major growth spurt. This may be a time where a relationship or partnership comes to an end or is allowed to evolve. How you respond to others is everything right now. Do you feel the need to assert yourself and your needs to a partner? Before saying your piece, try seeing the situation from their perspective and remember they are not your enemy. Be open and speak from the heart.

Sagittarius
This lunar cycle may have you feeling frayed due to many unexpected demands or changes to your schedule. Though the pressure is on, you have what it takes to persevere. If you are feeling out of sorts, give yourself time to step back and collect yourself before carrying on. In times of crisis or instability, you learn how strong you really are.

Capricorn
You may be evaluating who you associate with and how much energy you put towards organizations and groups you belong to. For many years, you have been itching to focus on your own projects and to develop your own gifts. Now is the time to put your joy first and pursue developing your unique talents. As you step further out on your own, others may see you as competition. Don't waste time worrying about what others think, and stay focused on your goals.

Aquarius
Responsibilities at work may be weighing heavy on you this month, or perhaps a job is requiring you to relocate. Changes at home may cause further strain at work. Be honest about how much you can handle at this time. There is an opportunity to liberate yourself from a confining situation and attain more freedom. Make it known where you'd like to see yourself in your career in the next year, and what needs to happen to get there.

Pisces
The Scorpio new moon is offering a revolution of the mind. You may be beginning a new area of study or traveling to a distant land. Passionate debates surround you, as you may be questioning a particular dogma or status quo. Don't get caught up in your ego at this time nor be tempted to give your power away to another. Questioning limiting beliefs from authority figures allows you to open your mind.

As always, I'm wishing you all the many blessings for this new moon.

Fallen Scorpio Moon + Bjork

astrologySuzy OlsenComment

Bjork is a stunning example of all things Scorpio. If you are unaware, she is a well-known musician in Iceland who is known for her 'out there' surreal performances. I became a huge fan back in the 90's, when I saw her first music video on MTV. Recently, I was studying her natal chart and admiring all the Scorpio magic she brings to the world. She has the Sun, Moon, ascendant, and Neptune in Scorpio and in the house of self. In other words, her identity, her emotions and effortless imagination are on full display to the world. She has a unique and otherworldly Scorpio style that is 100% her own making.

The sign of Scorpio is ruled by Mars traditionally, and this gives her a noticeable intensity. Her moon is rising above the ascendant, which means her deep and fraught emotions are fully exposed to the world. She wears her deeply tender heart on her sleeve, and it is thus inextricably part of her persona. So if we are looking for a good example of Scorpio moon energy in a human, Bjork is a great example!

In ancient astrology, the moon is considered 'fallen' in the sign of Scorpio. The term 'fallen' here means the moon often gets lost in its feelings and has trouble letting go of distraught emotions and attachments. A Scorpio moon burned does not easily forget, and it takes dedicated work to heal a broken heart. There is a capacity to feel the lowest lows and the highest highs with a Scorpio moon.

Bjork's deep sensitivities undoubtedly inspire her work, and she uses her creative expression to navigate and heal the domain of her heart. Instead of burying the feelings deep inside, she unveils them through her music. She confronts her shadows through her creative expression. One song that beautifully depicts this, is the song "Jóga" from the Homogenic album. You can listen on YouTube here. The lyrics from this song seem to capture the essence of the Scorpio moon so perfectly:

"I feel... Emotional landscapes
They puzzle me
Then the riddle gets solved
And you push me up to this
State of emergency
How beautiful to be
State of emergency
Is where I want to be
All that no-one sees
You see
What's inside of me
Every nerve that hurts
You heal
Deep inside of me
You don't have to speak
I feel"

Thus, on this Scorpio new moon, you can find a little inspiration from Bjork. She productively channels her intense emotions into her work, and we can do the same.
